Hey Mike, thanks for the message! Really helpful comments, which I've passed on to the product developers.

Are you aware that we're launching a specific motorbike Beeline? It will be a completely stand-alone product, with a proper handlebar mount, more sophisticated routing, and will look right at home on your Ducati. Your current Beeline will of course continue to work, and we will be selling the mounts separately.

We'll be launching the Kickstarter for Beeline Moto in a few weeks, but you can ensure you don't miss the updates by signing up to the Motorbike mailing list here. As a valued member of the Beeline community already, if you'd like to share this motorbike-friendly news with fellow bikers and encourage them to sign up for the Kickstarter, that would be an insane help! We're really pumped to launch this Kickstarter with the biggest possible impact, so word-of-mouth can be really powerful.

Hey Mike, ah, that's a lovely part of the world you've got there! Nice and flat, I reckon?

Very useful to have these examples. For now, the technology can't get around the issue, but when we launch Beeline Moto, all shall be resolved! (And it's less than 2 months away!!)

Thanks for this update Beeline Team. Any idea on when Route Assistant's limitations will be fixed for all users? By this I mean:

    1. Not selecting waypoints in a helpful way. Really Route Assistant is a slightly more sophisticated Compass Mode, because the sparing way it identifies waypoints means it can point you in the direction of the next waypoint without telling you that you actually have to make several turns before reaching that waypoint;

    2. Not selecting wapoints in a helpful way on GPX routes, due to the same problem in point 1.

    3. Not having some ability to choose quiet or busy routes when activating Route Assistant. Too often this means that Route Assistant dumps me on the fastest, busiest route when I'd prefer a quieter, less direct route. Incidentally, I think this undermines one of your attempted selling points which is 'what routes has Beeline shown you today?' Most of the time Beeline's Route Assistant shows me the delights of A roads, which aren't things I'm going to rave about to my friends!

If you could fix these flaws I'd actually use Route Assistant. As it is, at present if I don't know the route I manually create my own, which can be quite tedious if the route is long, and if I do know the route, I just use Compass Mode, mainly so I can see the speedometer and remaining distance on my Beeline device, which is more helpful than simply activating Strava on my phone which is then hidden from my view.

FWIW though, the auto-calibration feature is fantastic :-)

    Thanks

    Peter

If you put in a route between CB24 4SL (Fen Drayton) and PE28 9NJ (Hilton) using Route Assistant, look at where it crosses Cambridge Road (A14); that's a pedestrian tunnel under the A14 dual carriageway. A route from CB24 4SL to PE27 5BW (St Ives, Cambs) tries to follow the service road on the Guided Busway, which is a bridleway. Hope that helps...

    Hey Peter, hope you're well?

Really useful pointers - thanks for that. Points 1 and 2 will definitely be resolved with the upcoming routing update which is so exciting! Point 3 is a work-in-progress, but certainly one we're keen to build in. Anything to facilitate you raving to your friends about Beeline!!

It's good to hear that you still enjoy using Compass mode and think auto-calibration rocks.

    Happy Beelining!

    Cheers,

    Sam

Getting used to Beeline on my Ducati - as often as not I simply use the compass feature, ie not selecting RouteAssist. If you have a general idea of the route, it's a lot simpler. Definitely the future of satnav....

Hey Mike. Wow, that's so awesome. Just wait until we launch the fully optimised routing for motorcycling!!

Will Beeline Moto use the existing Beeline app or a new app with motorcycle routing? There are probably others like me who want to trial the software before buying the hardware. Definitely looking for an alternative to having my phone on the handlebars.

Hey Paul, we actually haven't made a final decision on whether to incorporate Beeline Moto within the pre-existing app or to have a standalone one. Ultimately, the result is the same: the Moto software has specific functionality that is suited to motorcycling, but it is based on the cycling app, so the existing app is a good place to start if you want to trial the software.

Do shout with any further questions!
