Losing bluetooth connection after roughly 8 km

Hey Peter, thanks for getting in touch! This is due to something various Android phones do in order to optimise battery. They effectively kill the Beeline app when it is in the background, thereby cutting the active bluetooth connection.

One of our power users came up with this solution for Huawei - do have a look in your phone's settings to see if there's a similar solution on Xiaomis. Unfortunately, they are not on the list of phones we actively support, but as the OS (9.0) is very recent, it is probable that solving the battery optimisation issue will get you Beelining again!

    Cheers,

    Thank you!

I suspected that it was something like that, but didn't find the "hidden" settings.

I'll give it a try on Friday. Will let you know if it doesn't work

Sadly, the problem remains and the Beeline lost contact and shut off after 7,8 km.

It seems like the Beeline loses the bluetooth connection and there must be another setting than the battery optimization.

    Any other tips?

    Hi,

I had the same problem: Beeline lost connection to phone - OnePlus6 in my case - after 5 minutes of usage, pretty annoying. I'm using flip cover on my phone and below what happens (I think):

    - closing the flip cover triggers proximity sensor to note the phone to shut down the display

    - soon the phone realises it is not been used and power saving actions will be activated. In my phone it meant complete power saving after 5 minutes after closing the flip cover (except bluetooth as it keeps connection to hands free). This resulted closing the Beeline app as well leading to connection loss to Beeline device.

How I got the problem solved in my OnePlus6 phone:

Some Android implementation seems to have multiple levels of power saving options - I found two from my phone:

    1) application level power saving can be turned off from the power saving options. Find Beeline app there and toggle the power optimisation switch to off-position, but this wasn't enough...

    2) in the same menu there's three vertical dots on the top right hand side of the display. From there one can find even more advanced power saving options... In my phone deselecting "deep optimisation" (free translation) option made the trick: Navigation stays on.

I notice phone manufacturers have their own SW development on top of vanilla Android, power management seems to be one of those customisations, therefore such setup may vary phone by phone.
